About Florida Criminal History

Florida criminal records are divided among several public bodies. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement keeps the state repository, the Florida Department of Corrections maintains prison and state-supervision records, and FDLE operates the Florida Sexual Offender and Predator Registry. Trial files remain with clerks in Florida's 67 counties. This private reference resource organizes those routes so readers can distinguish a statewide history from the local file that created it.

Why We Built This Site

Florida provides broad access to many government records, but custody is spread across the justice system. FDLE compiles reported, fingerprint-linked Florida arrests and dispositions. The Florida Department of Corrections tracks state prisoners and much adult felony supervision. FDLE's registry publishes information reported about qualifying sexual offenders and predators. Sheriffs, police departments, jails, and county clerks create the arrest, booking, incident, and trial records. The purpose of Florida Criminal History is to show those boundaries and direct readers to the public body that holds the official source.

What We Cannot Do

Florida Criminal History is a privately run reference site. It is not part of FDLE, a Florida court, a sheriff's office, a police department, or any other public agency. Those limits mean:

  • It cannot issue a certified rap sheet, court document, or other official record
  • It cannot run an official check or retrieve a person's government file
  • It cannot file a Florida public-record request, sealing petition, or expunction petition
  • It cannot advise how a charge, disposition, or law applies to one person's facts
  • It cannot promise that every public-office fee, address, or procedure remains current

Only FDLE, a Florida court, or the local office that created a record can issue or certify it. Verify each result with that source.
